What we can't accept by mail

We aren't currently able to accept iMacs, Mac Studio, Mac Pro or other Mac desktops, or full-size ATX/EATX tower PCs, through this mail-in service — for desktops, we can only accept mini desktops/NUCs. We also can't accept servers/rack equipment, desktop motherboard repairs, iMac logic board repairs, or any device from outside metropolitan Melbourne. If you're not sure your device qualifies, give us a call first — 03 8759 1801.

What It Costs

Simple, upfront pricing for mail-in repairs — no surprises.

$50 diagnostic fee

Credited towards your repair

Every mail-in device starts with a $50 diagnostic once it arrives. If you go ahead with the repair, that $50 is credited towards the cost. If your device turns out not to be repairable, the fee is waived. If it's repairable but you decide not to proceed, the $50 diagnostic fee still applies.

$50 postage & handling

Added to your final invoice

A flat $50 postage & handling fee covers us carefully packing and posting your repaired device back to your Melbourne address, and is added to the total cost of your repair — you only pay it once, on your final invoice.

Note: You're responsible for the cost of shipping your device to us. We'll call or email you with a full written quote before any repair work begins — you're never charged for repair work without approving it first.

How to Pack Your Device

Good packaging is the single biggest factor in your device arriving safely. Please follow these steps closely.

  1. Back up your data first, if your device is still working well enough to do so. We take care with every repair, but backing up is always the safest approach.
  2. Take photos of your device from every angle — top, bottom, screen, ports and any existing damage — before you pack it. You'll upload these in the booking form below.
  3. Power the device off completely and remove any external accessories, cases or cables you don't need us to have.
  4. Wrap the device in bubble wrap or an anti-static bag, making sure the laptop screen or lid is well cushioned front and back.
  5. Use a sturdy box that's slightly larger than the device, and fill every gap with packing paper, foam or bubble wrap so nothing can shift or move in transit.
  6. For mini desktops/NUCs, remove any loose accessories you're worried about, and make sure the box is strong enough to support the weight without crushing.
  7. Include a printed note inside the box with your name, phone number and booking reference number (you'll receive this after submitting the form below).
  8. Post it to us at Macrotech Solutions, 50 Titan Drive, Carrum Downs VIC 3201, using a trackable postage service.
  9. Send us your tracking number once it's posted — use the "Submit Your Tracking Number" section further down this page.

What if my device isn't repairable?
If, after diagnosis, we find your device isn't repairable, the $50 diagnostic fee is waived and we'll discuss your options, including safely returning the device to you.
Do I need to back up my data before sending my device?
We recommend it if your device is still working well enough to do so. If your device won't boot at all, let us know in the problem description — data recovery is one of the services we offer.
Can I mail in an iMac, Mac Studio or a full tower PC?
Not currently. For desktops, we can only accept mini desktops/NUCs by mail. iMacs, Mac Studio, Mac Pro and full-size ATX/EATX tower PCs aren't accepted through this service — please call us on 03 8759 1801 to discuss in-person drop-off options for these devices.
Can I get a motherboard or logic board repaired by mail?
Yes, for laptops. We accept laptop motherboard repairs (Windows/PC laptops) and MacBook logic board repairs through this mail-in service. We don't currently accept desktop motherboard repairs (including mini desktop/NUC boards) or iMac logic board repairs by mail — these need an in-person drop-off.
How long does a mail-in repair take?
Turnaround depends on the fault and parts availability. We'll give you a clear timeframe when we call with your written quote after diagnosis.
What happens to my photos after I upload them?
They're kept on file against your booking as a record of your device's condition before shipping, and referenced by our technicians when your device arrives.
